Which yacht paints are best for a professional high-gloss finish?

For a true showroom result, we recommend a two-component polyurethane system like Acriglass. These types of yacht paints offer superior UV resistance and chemical durability compared to standard single-pack enamels. By using a professional-grade topcoat, you ensure your vessel maintains its colour and gloss levels even in high-salinity environments.

How do I choose the right yacht paint for my hull material?

Selecting the correct yacht paints depends entirely on your boat’s substrate.

  • For GRP/Fiberglass: Use dedicated primers and two-component finishes to prevent gelcoat chalking.

  • For Steel & Aluminium: High-build epoxy primers are required to create a moisture barrier against corrosion and osmosis.

  • For Wood: Traditional high-oil varnishes or fast-build Poliglass systems provide the necessary flexibility for timber movement.

Can I apply multiple coats of yacht varnish in a single day?

Yes, our specialised Poliglass “6 coats a day” system is engineered for rapid overcoating. This is one of our most popular yacht paints for professionals because it allows for significant depth and UV protection to be built up in a fraction of the time compared to conventional marine varnishes.

What are the benefits of biocide-free yacht paints for propellers?

Modern biocide-free coatings like Prop Shark create a high-slip, non-stick surface. Unlike traditional anti-fouling yacht paints, these “slippery” coatings prevent marine growth from attaching to propellers and running gear through physical rather than chemical means. This leads to better fuel efficiency and increased hull speed by reducing underwater drag.

Do you provide technical support for DIY yacht paint application?

Absolutely. We provide a full range of technical data sheets and system guides to support both professional boatyards and DIY enthusiasts. Our goal is to ensure that every liter of yacht paints we supply results in a durable, long-lasting finish that can withstand the rigors of the sea.
